Best pet food storage made
by J. Michael Rediker
We're getting ready to buy a second "Vault" to hold puppy food; we've been using our first Vault to store adult dog food. The Vittles Vault is the only food storage item we've ever found that you can leave out there in the garage with four large dogs, and they can bite it, knock it over, push it around, jump on it, spill their water bowl by it, etc., and nothing affects the contents or allows them access to the contents.
It is truly airtight and watertight, but easy to open and close rapidly with a "spin" of the large cap, which has a well-designed screw-on system.
Keeps Food Fresh
We were originally using a Rubbermaid trash container to store our dog food, but the lid didn't have an airtight seal. Vittles Vault is the perfect container for keeping your pet's dry dog food fresh. It's lightweight and more compact than the Rubbermaid trash can we were using in the past.
We buy larger bags (40-50 lbs). We just dump the food into the fault. We do also wash out the remaining crumbs at the bottom of the Vittles Vault before dumping the next bag of food in it.
No ants! But don't overtighten the lid.
by Kilo Delta
I buy premium dog food for my sheltie, and I wanted the best container available to keep it safe from ants. I think I've found it! No bugs (or mice!) to be seen. I don't think they even know there's dog food in there.
I *was* having a problem opening the Vittles Vault. Turns out I was over tightening the lid when closing the container. The manufacturer said all I have to do is spin the lid, and when it stops, it's closed. Oh. Well. Boy, is my face red. Now it's much easier for me to open the lid, and it still keeps out ants.
The 1 1/4 cup measuring scoop that's included is the perfect size for a daily ration for my 30 lb sheltie. I feed her a small-sized kibble (Canidae All Life Stages), and this container fits the 40 lb bag with a little room left over. I can't imagine that it'd hold 50 lbs of my kibble, but since my kibble comes in 40 lb bags, it works great for me.
I love it, and so does my sister, who bought one to store her cat food in.
