Holiday Road Trip Essentials for traveling with your dog
The holiday season is a busy time for all. Many of us have to travel to be with family, and of course our pets come with!
There are some essentials for road tripping with your pet this holiday season that you can't forget!
Don't forget to download our printable checklist at the end of this post!
Travel - Tainer
The Vittles Vault Travel-Tainer (pictured below) is ideal for treat storage or a few days of food. The container holds half a gallon of water, or approximately 6 cups of dry kibble. It has a convenient carrying handle that can be removed to reveal two 3-cup bowls.
We recommend using one for food and one for water. Or, if you have multiple dogs with you, they can each have their own food or water bowl!
If you're going to be gone for an extended period of time, taking a bigger Vittles Vault would work better. The Vittles Vault 15 and 30lb. containers from the Outback collection are the perfect size for the car.
Comfy Dog Bed
A comfy bed for your pet is a must have when taking long trips in the car! This reversible pet bed from Fuzzyard is super cozy and the perfect size for the car! A bed is also a necessity for when you get to your final destination! It will make your pet feel at home!
Treats, Food & Water
It is so important to keep your dog buckled in while driving. The Kurgo Tru-Fit Dog Car Harness is crash-tested for ultimate safety for you and your dog! It comes in 5 different sizes, x-small to x-large for dogs weighing 5 to 110 pounds.
Collar, Harness, Leash & Poop Bags
These 4 items are must haves. Always make sure that your dogs tag is up to date with the correct phone number just incase!
Christmas Sweater & Christmas Presents
A holiday road trip wouldn’t be complete without cute Christmas sweaters and your pups stocking and presents! Definitely can’t forget that!
Benebone / Chew Toy
Something to keep your pup busy while being in the car for so long is a necessity. Benebone chew toys are universally loved by all! They come in 3 different flavors; bacon, peanut butter and chicken, so there’s a flavor for everyone! They come in multiple sizes for all dog breeds and they’re made in the USA.
Stain Remover & Paper Towels
Just incase of an accident or if your dog gets carsick, it’s always smart to have stain remover on hand! Make sure you get the correct one for the type of seats you have.
If your traveling in a hatchback or a SUV, laying one seat down and allowing access to the backseat and the trunk area will allow your dog to get up and stretch without having to pull into a rest area!
